First edition, first impression. "[Dulac's] status as a popular artist was assured when he was commissioned by Hodder and Stoughton to illustrate a new edition of The Arabian Nights (1907)" (ODNB). It has also been noted that "Edmund Dulac became Rackham's rival in the gift-book field after the publication of... Arabian Nights... in which the mystery of the East was well evoked by the artist's current passion for deep blues and purples" (Whalley & Chester, A History of Children's Book Illustration, 1988, p. 152).
